Amy Kerswill is an artist and Illustrator living in San Francisco though originally from the greater Seattle area. Kerswill attended California College of the Arts where she graduated with a BFA in illustration and a minor in writing and literature.
Kerswill’s practice often blends the use of traditional media with digital. Primarily working in watercolor then often layering with colored pencil, ink, or digital media. While not her primary media she has experience with screen printing, ceramics, linocut printing, oil painting, photography, charcoal, and poetry. Kerswill likes to bring childlike whimsy and wonder into everything she makes creating a fun and inviting work.
Kerswill draws a lot of inspiration from the animals, environment, and stories from her families home of South Africa. Hearing stories from her parents and grandparents about wild adventures on the farm makes you question their sanity. Kerswill feels a close connection to children and has always been drawn to their curiosity and unfailingly weird questions. In her free time she loves to read anything and everything, listen to music, cook and bake, bike along the lake in her hometown, and most importantly, spend time with friends and family.
